    If you look in your rear view mirror (as the driver does) the word "ambulance" spelt backwards is reflected back to normal. So the driver knows what the flashing car with sirens is.

    Next time look in your rear-view mirror and you can read the word "AMBULANCE" correctly.

    This is meant for the reflection upon your rear-view mirrors (if you're driving or riding a motorcycle), which will then show the word as it is meant to be read by you (without the need to turn your head).
