Dont Tell me its because of the new rating system. If you look it up; American cars get worse every year, and the foreign is getting better. Not as good as they were years ago.
Since prices have gone up they started offering hybrids. Well guess what...the price of the car went up. Can we not win the fight???
Why would the gas companys lower there gas prices when they know well pay it. How do we get that to change.
Why would car companys give up more fuel efficiant cars when we pay for it.
THe problem is that the Car Dealerships and in bed with the gas companies.
What is wrong with the world today.
Could i get some expert opinions on this?
I need to find others that feel the same way so that we can get together and do something about this.
Gas prices are supposed to be over 10 bucks a gallon by 2010. Do you think minimun wage will be that high then. How are people supposed to survive?

I agree. All I can say to answer your question: Greed. And more greed. That's the only thing that makes prices go up. Producers realize "The demand is going up. What if we convince our buyers the supply is down, even if it's not, so we can make even MORE money!" This applies for all products.. especially gasoline.

Actually, newer models are getting better mileage.
For one thing, we need more refineries. That would help lower gas prices. This is something that the left-wing liberal Democrats don't want to happen.
Another thing that needs to happen for lower fuel prices is to start drilling on American soil: ESPECIALLY in Alaska. The main area with the huge reserves is not the pristine garden area that left-wingers like Nancy Pelosi would have you believe!
These two situations alone would dramatically help fuel prices in the United States! We need to stop left-wing liberals from pushing bad policies that are to the detriment of this great country!!!

My old dodge dart lite got 31 mpg and that thing was solid steel. You are lucky to even find a car today that gets that and if you do it wil be 60% plastic and have a very small engine.

So I guess its because the car manufactures are catering to luxery, convience, and style. They are overlooking that cars need to be engineered better and not just designed.

I don't know that they are getting worse but they could certainly be better. The real problem is they market gas guzzlers, make you feel like a wimp if you don't drive something "tough". More needs to be done to raise public participation in switching over to smaller cars. Our first priority should be weening ourselves off Saudi Oil. Most don't understand that we are already paying $10/gallon for gas because of the subsidies given to the oil companies. It's the old shell game. Stop buying the huge trucks and they'll start designing better sensible cars. Would you rather drive a small car or take a bus?

It's because cars get heavier as a result of new luxury and safety features. The price of cars has little to nothing to do with the cost of gas. The most expensive cars have horrible fuel economy. If car companies were in bed with oil companies it would be the other way around.
